Benefits of using linen:
- Extremely Breathable and Absorbent
Due to its molecular makeup, linen fabrics have been shown through scientific testing to be extremely absorbent. its hollow-shaped fibers may absorb up to 20% of their weight in moisture before any moisture or dampness is visible to the unaided eye. Wearing linen is very airy and incredibly absorbent, which is why people adore it—especially in hot and muggy weather. Not to mention, even during the cooler months—frozen spring mornings, snowy winter days, and chilly fall evenings—linen is a great material to layer with.
- Exceptional Comfort and Moisture-Removing Qualities
Linen is very moisture-wicking, meaning it keeps moisture off of our bodies. This is why wearing linen clothing in hot weather feels so soothing since it keeps you cool and comfy.
- Sturdiness and Extended Life
Second only to silk in terms of durability, linen is one of the most popular natural fibres used in apparel textiles globally. The key component that gives linen fabric its capacity to withstand the test of time is the strength of the flax fibres woven inside. Any cotton garment can, in fact, only last a season or five years at most; whereas, linen garments can last up to ten years.
- Eco-Friendly and Sustainable
The majority of us are encouraged to buy and select eco-friendly and sustainable clothing and items as a result of the increased global awareness of the detrimental effects of climate change. Fortunately, linen is among the most environmentally friendly and long-lasting materials available! Starting with its original source, the flax plant, which requires little water and no fertiliser to flourish in subpar environments. Since less water is needed for the growth and production of linen, it is a more economical and environmentally friendly method than producing cotton.
- Low maintenance
Did you know? Linen is actually quite simple to maintain. Similar to any other fabric, there are important things to keep in mind while cleaning, washing, and drying it in order to extend its lifespan and avoid shrinking or other damage after washing. The fact that linen does not need to be ironed and may have such lovely, natural creases is one of the main reasons why most people have liked linen clothes from the dawn of time, merely because linen clothing's overall charm and character come from its loose and wrinkled nature.
Ultimately, it all comes down to preferences and perspectives. The origins of linen are traced back thousands of years; several accounts place its age between 10,000 and 36,000 years. Many have loved, yet many have chosen otherwise. If you happen to love Linen as much as we do, it’s a wonderful thing we found each other!
